Obituary For Roy Young

Graveside service for Roy Chester Young, 78, of Oxford, Alabama will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Silver Run Cemetery with Reverend Isaac Chappell, officiating. Public viewing will be from 1:00-6:00 PM on Friday, March 12, at the chapel of Goodson Funeral Home. Roy accepted Christ at an early age, he joined Shiloh Church in Munford, Alabama. He received his formal education at Ophelia S. Hill School. Roy Chose his mate for life while in high school. On November 10, 1962, Betty J. Jenkins and Roy Young became husband and wife and began an incredible life journey. Mr. Young entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. Family members that preceded him in death include his father and mother Roger and Dora Lou Young, his wife of 58 years Betty J. Young, brother, Lorenzo Young, and sister Ruby Hampton. He lives to cherish his memories, his children, Leicha (Raymond) Shaver, Beverly (Fedrick) Smith, Valerie (Jarod) Wilson, Jerald Young, and Brian (Dana) Young. Sisters, Barbara (Fred) Roberts, Caroline (Willie) Hampton, and Lavenia (Yulas) Johnson; brothers, Willie ( Val) Young, Anthony (Lydia) Young, Renard Young, and Glenward (Dora) Young; fourteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, loved ones, and multitude of friends.
