The funeral will be held July 16th, 2022 at First Baptist Church 230 7th Street N.E. Jacksonville, AL 36265 at 3 p.m. There will be a viewing from 2 p.m.- 3 p.m.

Thomas James "T.J" Sudduth, Jr. was born in Oxford, AL, on July 24,1942, to the parents of the late Thomas James Sudduth, Sr., and the late Ruby Pearson Sudduth. He was the oldest of three siblings. He transitioned on July 6, 2022, at Princeton Medical Center in Birmingham, AL, surrounded by family. He confessed Christ at an early age, and united with New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Hobson City, AL. He later joined First Baptist Church of Eastwood in Jacksonville, AL, where he served as Superintendent of Sunday School, Choir Director, Deacon, Church Clerk, Treasurer, and Vacation Bible School Teacher. He served faithfully until his passing. He also dedicated his time and services to the Snow Creek District. His early education was obtained at the Calhoun County Training School, located in Hobson City, AL, from where he graduated.

Afterwards, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for four years. After serving in the United States Air Force, he went on to achieve his Bachelor of Science in Education at the University of Alabama. He was an educator in the Anniston City School System until he became a UniServ Director for the Alabama Education Association. He was a lobbyist for the education system until his retirement in 2010. T.J. was a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and an active member of the Anniston-Piedmont Alumni Chapter, in which he held several offices. He was a member of the Jacksonville Exchange Club, the Senior Citizen Board of Director for the City of Jacksonville, and one of the first members of the Jacksonville Hospital Board. He additionally served as Vice-Chairman of Minority Affairs for the Calhoun County Democratic Party. T.J. enjoyed spending precious times with his family and friends. He loved his church family, as well as his community. He was an avid fan of the Jacksonville State University Gamecocks, the University of Alabama Crimson Tide, and the Atlanta Braves. His hobbies included, but not limited to, fishing, traveling, gardening, singing, attending sporting events, and shopping. One of his favorite pastimes was his passion for line dancing. He loved his Line Dancing Family! T. J. was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, family member, dear friend, and mentor. He never met a stranger.

He leaves to cherish memories a loving wife of 56 years, Sandra of Jacksonville, AL, a devoted king and queens, Timothy (Micole) of Conyers, GA, Traci of Sandy Springs, GA, a sister, Carol Robinson of Washington, D.C., a brother, Montressor Sudduth of Hobson City, AL., and a host of special nieces, nephews, close family and friends.

The services will be held by Goodson Funeral Home.
