Obituary For Janice Wring

On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, our beloved Queen—a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend—graciously accepted her call to eternal life. As the Word of God reminds us, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”

Janice Wring was born on May 6, 1946, in Savannah, Georgia. Her inquisitive spirit and unwavering determination to serve others blossomed early in life. She attended Luther Jackson High School and proudly graduated with the Class of 1964.

Janice began her professional journey as a nurse at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, where she served with compassion and dedication for seven years. Her warm personality and love for people led her to Arlington County Court Services, where she worked as a receptionist for 20 years. Later, she moved to Fort Myers, Florida, and continued her work in public service at Lee County as a receptionist for another seven years.

Her passion for connecting with others extended into retail, where she worked as a Sales Associate at JCPenney before joining Enterprise Rent-A-Car. There, she dedicated 15 years of exceptional service. Janice deeply enjoyed meeting new people, sharing laughter, and making everyone feel welcomed and appreciated. She spent the final 14 years of her career at Walmart—fondly referring to it as “Wally World”—which she considered her second home before retiring.

A woman of strong faith, Janice was a devoted member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia, under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Darrell K. White. She faithfully served on the Usher Ministry and sang joyfully in the Women’s Choir. Her love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life, and she served her church family with passion and humility.

Janice cherished her family deeply. She loved music, dancing, delicious food, nature walks, and watching westerns. She found great joy in watching her great-grandsons grow and never missed a moment to laugh or share a joke. She also loved shopping and spending hours on the phone with her sisters. With a heart of pure gold, Janice gave freely and generously—always ready to offer her last without hesitation. Her vibrant spirit, radiant smile, and giving nature left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Janice leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted daughter, Karen Michelle Quinn of Alexandria, VA; three grandchildren, Marlo Quinn of Virginia, Marlette Quinn, and Marcel Quinn, both of Alexandria, VA; two beloved great-grandchildren, Damari Quinn and Damarcus Quinn, both of Virginia; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her cherished siblings: Juliette Mays, Wilvia Wring, Jeanette Austin, Samuel Wring, Leroy Thomas.

Janice Wring will be remembered for her joy, her generosity, her faith, and the deep love she gave to everyone she encountered. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
