Romaine Dawkins

Remembering my Aunt Romaine 🕊️  I'm going to miss you and your "cool" — yet warm and firm demeanor. You always made me feel like I was the daughter that you never had. Ever since I was a young child — throughout adulthood— you'd be one of the first people to arrive at Grandma's as soon as we arrived from Michigan. From that day on, you'd pick me up and take me everywhere with you! We'd have so much fun together... shopping, visiting your friends and relatives, parties... I always dreamed of moving to Virginia permanently, so we could hang together all the time. One of our favorite pastimes was eating crabs! I always looked forward to having them at your house with you and Uncle Robert. Plus, you'd take me to other places where they'd be served! We would sit and eat them for hours! 

I always looked forward to my free salon day with you, too. When I burned out most of my hair during my freshman year in college, you got me together!  No matter what we talked about, you were always firm and honest; never condescending. Even when your advice warranted a "reality check", you spoke with love and respect. 

I'm so glad that I got to see you several times over the past few years. Rest well.  Love  Gail
