Services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at First Mt. Zion Baptist Church 16622 Dumfries Road Dumfries, VA 22025

Visitation: 10 a.m. Funeral: 11 a.m.

Burial will take place on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Bethel Cemetery, Corner of Wilkes and Payne Streets, Alexandria, VA at 10 a.m.

Samuel David Graham Obituary:

Samuel David Graham was born on August 3, 1942, in Lakeland, Florida, to the late Sidney Graham, Jr., and Dorothy (Dorothea) Lee Harris Graham. At an early age, Samuel and his family moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, where he grew up and persevered through life’s many challenges. He passed away peacefully at Birmingham Green Nursing Home in Manassa, Virginia.

Samuel dearly loved the Lord and his family, holding a particularly deep devotion to his mother, sister Dorothy, and brother Earle. He was known as a diligent and dependable worker in the service industry, approaching every job with pride and joy. Samuel possessed an infectious, happy spirit that touched everyone he encountered, and he took genuine pleasure in serving others.

Samuel found joy in life’s simple pleasures—laughing long and loudly, playing basketball, watching sports, enjoying potato chips, and drinking soda. An avid Bible reader and dedicated walker, Samuel treasured attending services and church-related events at First Mount Zion Baptist Church, where his faith continued to grow and shine.

Sam was a longtime resident of Birmingham Green Nursing Home in Manassas, Virginia. He enjoyed interacting with staff and fellow residents and actively participating in the many activities offered there.

Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Graham, Jr., and Dorothy (Dorothea) Graham; his brother, Maurice Graham; and his sister, Laurastine Chisholm Lampkin.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving sister, Dorothy Boddy of Stafford, Virginia; his brothers, Earle Graham (Darrie) of Charles County, Maryland, and Ronald Graham of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; along with a host of beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever remember his joyful spirit and faithful heart.

Tributes to our brother:

My brother Sam was a true sports enthusiast, with a deep love for basketball, football, baseball, and boxing. He had encyclopedic knowledge of sports history and eagerly shared it with anyone willing to listen. Though he never owned a car, he faithfully walked to the magazine stand to pick up his copies of Sports Illustrated and The Ring.

On the court, Sam was a playground legend, known for his deadly jump shot—a signature move he often followed with a knowing smile. Beyond his love for sports, Sam had an even deeper love for Christ. He carried his Bible wherever he went, and his faith was a constant source of strength and guidance in his life.

My brother Sam will be deeply missed. I took my caregiving responsibilities for him to heart, and caring for him was a blessing rooted in love.

We shared many escapades—moments filled with laughter, lessons, and memories I will forever treasure. Through it all, I was blessed to watch Sam grow, not only in life but also in the Lord. From an early age until his passing, his walk with Christ deepened, and his faith became a steady, defining part of who he was.

I am grateful to God for the time we shared and for the man Sam became. Though my heart aches, I find comfort in knowing he is now at peace, resting in the presence of the Lord he loved so dearly.
