Ms. Brenda Kay McClain was born November 13, 1957 in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. She departed this life peacefully, Monday, January 25, 2021 at home with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Howard McClain, Jr and Joan Huff McClain.
Brenda was a graduate of Kings Mountain High School, Class of 1976 and Central Piedmont Community College, where she received a certification - Tailoring in Men’s Clothing. She also Attended North Carolina Central University. Brenda worked as an assistant in the Outreach Lab for CaroMont Health Regional for 10 years. For over 20 years, Brenda worked at Atrium Health as a Patient Coordinator for until declining health in 2017. She was a former member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she served as a Young Adult Choir member. She joined Center Baptist Church after relocating to Lowell, North Carolina. At Center Baptist she was faithful member and participated in Sunday School. Brenda was well known for her “smile” and witty personality. Her passion for sewing led her to making clothing for family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one dearly loved sister: Darlene McClain and her nephew, James Everette McClain, Jr.
Those left to cherish her memories and love are two sisters; Mary Connor (Keith) of Gastonia, NC and Jennifer Thompson (Mike) of Mount Holly, NC; two brothers, James Everette McClain, Sr. (Sandra) and Gary McClain both of Kings Mountain. One God-Daughter, Katina Larry; two aunts; Thelma Davis of Cherryville, NC and Nancy Forman of Charlotte, NC, one uncle; Ted Huff (Pearl) of Burlington, New Jersey, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral at Center Baptist Church on Sunday; January 31, 2021 at 1:30 p.m.
Visitation: thirty minutes before the service at the church
Interment: Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Kings Mountain
Masks are required and service will be live on Center Baptist Facebook page at 1:30 p.m.

I knew Brenda from her employment at Caromont and CMC. She was a hard worker and always made sure that I got what I needed when I would call. I would be so happy when she answered the phone. After business was done, we would talk about other things. She was a strong woman, even through her illness. RIP dear lady!
