Mrs. Brownie Knox Allison was born September 4, 1929 in Gastonia, North Carolina to the late Price and Carrie Pettus Knox. She was called home on Sunday; June 14, 2020 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina.
She was educated in the Gaston County School System and retired from working in food service at Gaston County Schools. Mrs. Brownie was a long standing, faithful member of Pleasant Ridge AME Zion Church in Gastonia, North Carolina. She loved cooking and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Ruth “Tee” Allison; five sisters: Viola Gordon, Pearl Gordon, Evelyn Knox, Willie Mae Williams and Rachel Hardin and two sons: Melvin Allison and Billy Ray Allison.
Mrs. Brownie leaves to cherish precious memories to two daughters: Katherlene Allison of the home and Darlene Allison Adams (Rick) and three sons: George Allison (Nadine), Rufus Allison (Clemmer), and David Allison; sister: Christine Moore, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends.
She will lie in state on Friday; June 19, 2020 at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m.
Funeral: Saturday; June 20, 2020; 2:30 p.m.; Pleasant Ridge AME Zion Church, Gastonia
Visitation: thirty minutes before the service at the church
Interment: Pleasant Ridge AME Zion Church Cemetery
