Daniel DeWitt Lowery was born April 11, 1990 in Gastonia, North Carolina, to Patricia Davis and Danny Lowery. He transitioned this life on March 9, 2021 in the warmth and comfort of his own home in Kings Mountain, North Carolina.
Educated and ambitious, he accomplished many goals. And just like the apple who doesn't fall far from the tree, undoubtedly from his mother, he grew such a love for food that it inspired him to complete a culinary arts program. Food brought joy to his heart; from the smell of each seasoning to the taste of each bite. A man of so many talents, and just like his father, he continued his education at a truck driving school where he received his certification and went on to drive trucks for the last 4 years.
It is written that "he who finds a wife finds a good thing…" and in this truth his path led him to the love of his life, Alkea Nicole Carter, who he met in 2012 while working briefly at Jameson Corporation in Clover, South Carolina. They married September 23, 2016 before God and in the presence of many family and friends where everyone got to see he was head over heels. In this union he gained a son and daughter, and eventually a proud title of "Paw Paw" of two grandsons and one granddaughter.
Daniel enjoyed having family time, laughing over food, and seeing everyone around him happy. These things were the food for his soul. He was a sincere and gentle, sweet loving, and loyal man. The man that would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. A protector of all he put under his wing… to know him was to love him. And because of this truth, the pain of his absence will be great. But he made sure the essence he left behind will be greater.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leo Carson Pressley, his uncle, DeWitt Pressley, and his aunt, Loretta Lee Pressley and a granddaughter, Kamoni Shakir.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Alkea Nicole Carter Lowery and his two step-children, Alicia Carter and Raheem Shakir; two grandchildren, Legend and Royal Carter; his grandmother, Ozella Currence Pressley, his mother, Patricia Lowery-Davis, and father, Danny Lowery; his only sister, Danielle Lowery, and his older brother, Justin Rollinson; his nephew, Cordan Rollinson, and a host of aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends all of Gastonia, North Carolina.
Viewing will be at the funeral home on Saturday; March 13, 2021 from 3 until 5 and on Sunday; March 14, 2021 from 10 until 12
Funeral: Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 3:00 p.m.; at St. John Baptist Church, Gastonia
