Daphne Vernell Dillard was born December 19, 1930 to the late Brazel and Lillian Pettus Armstrong. She went “home to be with her people” on Friday, December 18, 2020.
Ms. Daphne grew up in Gastonia, NC. She attended Highland High School where she was an active student. She was a member of the marching band. Not only did she march in the band, but as a young adult, she marched with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr in the fight for civil rights.
Daphne spent many years living and working in Atlanta, Ga. She worked for 20 years at Emory Hospital. She used her people skills in her position as supervisor over hospital laundry.
Ms. Daphne loved people, music, singing and dancing!
Daphne was preceded in death by her brothers: Ronnie and Brazel Armstrong, Jr. and her sister: Barbara Jean Smarr.
Ms. Daphne leaves to cherish her memory, son: Perry J. Armstrong (Cynthia); two grandsons: Kevin Deron “Foxx” and Perry Devon “ Dust” Armstrong, and a host of family and friends.
All services will be held at a later date.

Sorry for your loss. Even though, we really knew your mom, we knew her, from the love her had for her. We love you, and pray that you be comforted during this time of departure of your mother.
