Fred Lee Hemphill, Sr. was born in York, South Carolina on January 26, 1960 to the late Henry Hemphill and the late Margaret Thompson Watson. He entered into eternal rest on Friday; March 4, 2022 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina.
Fred was a Loving Husband, Father, Brother and Friend. He attended Gaston County Schools and graduated from Ashbrook High School, Class of 1979. He was employed at Livent for fifteen years. He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Gastonia, North Carolina where he was an ordained Deacon.He served on the Deacon Board and Media Ministry. He was a faithful New England Patriot Fan for over 50 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Henry Hemphill and Margaret Thompson Hemphill Watson; a sister, Margaret E Hemphill and a grandson, Sincere Hemphill.
Precious memories shall forever be cherished by his wife:Katina Hemphill; two daughters: Nydia Edwards and Kenya Michell, both of Gastonia, NC; three sons: Ronnal Mitchell, Dennis Duff, and Fred Hemphill Jr. all of Gastonia, NC; fifteen grandchildren: Azarion, Naryia, Nyla, Nia, Nazcere, Kehlani, Chosen, Ronnal Jr., Aazodia, Zamiyah, Tristen, Jayceon, Zacchaeus, Armani, and Armariyae; one sister: Christie Pressley (Steve) of Clover, SC; eight brothers: William Thompson (Sallie) of Kings Mountain, NC, John Hemphill, Larry Hemphill (Joann), and Billy Hemphill (Mary) all of Gastonia, NC, Clyde Hemphill of Grover, NC, Bruce Hemphill and Alfred Hemphill and Companion (Sherry) all of Gastonia, NC and Walter Anderson of York, SC; sister-in-law: Jerri Edwards of Dallas, NC; brother-in-law: Melvin Moody of Gastonia, NC; two aunts: Alberta Neely and Ruth Hemphill both of Charlotte, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Viewing at the funeral home on Thursday; March 10, 2022 from 5 until 8
Funeral on Friday; March 11, 2022 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Gastonia at 2:00 p.m.
Visitation at the church at 1:30 with family arriving at 1:45 p.m.
Interment: Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia
