Mrs. Georgia Mae McLean Norman was a native of Lincoln County, North Carolina who was born on August 8, 1946 to the late Benjamin McLean, Sr. and the late Cora Rozzelle McLean. She entered her heavenly home on Monday; April 13, 2020 at Novant Health in Huntersville, North Carolina.

Georgia was a graduate of Newbold High School in Lincolnton, North Carolina. She was a lifelong member of Rock Hill United Methodist Church in Stanley, North Carolina where was involved as an usher and in the women’s ministry. She has been employed at JP Stevens in Lincolnton, North Carolina where she was a winder. She loved shopping, traveling and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Frank Norman, sister: Donnie Gay Mclean and brothers: Charlie Edward McClain, Cal McLean, Calvin McLean, Louis McLean, Sr., and Douglas McLean, and grandchildren: Deantae Sowell and Javaris Sowell.

Memories will forever be cherished by her daughters: Dr. Victoria Sowell, Ronka Sowell, and Kisha Sowell; sons: Benjamin Sowell and Jerod Sowell, brothers: Arthur Lee McLean, Sr., Benjamin McLean, Jr. and Jackie McClain; grandchildren: Shekita Sowell, Alecia Sowell, Shantae Sowell, Chasity Sowell, Alvin Moore, Franklin Moore, Benjamin Sowell Jr., and Daquan Newkirk; great grandchildren: Jhamari Sowell, Elijah Sowell, Imruld Sowell, Zamiyah Aiken, Alvin Moore Jr., Israel Moore, Azriel Moore, Channel Moore, Zoey Moore, Wynter Moore, Gage West, Keyauna Sowell, Deantae Sowell Jr., Immory Sowell, August Sowell, Sir King Sowell, Kemiya Tulloch, Justice Sowell, Jaycionna Sowell, Iona Brown, Isaac Brown Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

She will lie in state on Thursday; April 16, 2020, from 4 until 6:00 p.m. at Gregory Funeral Service, Gastonia.

A private service will be held at Rock Hill United Methodist Church, Stanley
