James Sylvester Crawford was born December 8, 1938 in York County, South Carolina. He closed his eyes for rest on Tuesday; April 6, 2021. He was the son of the late Wylie Woods and Lillian Crawford.
James was known for his Gospel singing and telling jokes. He was devoted to his church and loved going to revivals. He was a member of Burge Memorial United Methodist Church. James worked and retired from the Department of Motor Vehicles after working for nearly twenty-five years. James was also a proud veteran where he served in the United States Army and was discharged on October 18, 1957 with an honorable discharge.
James leaves behind his loving wife: Alberta Crawford of Mt. Holly, North Carolina; a sister: Katherine Matthews; eight children, eighteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
