Mr. Johnny McCorkle was born April 15, 1948 in Lincoln County, North Carolina; son of Juanita Johnson McCorkle and the late James E. McCorkle. He entered eternal rest on Wednesday; February 17, 2021 at Charlotte Health and Rehab Center, Charlotte, North Carolina.
Johnny received his education from Rollins Elementary School and graduated from Reid High School in Belmont, North Carolina. He served two tours during the Vietnam War in the United States Army. He loved gambling and watching television.
He was preceded in death by his father: James E. McCorkle, Sr.; brothers: James E. McCorkle, Jr. and Ronnie L. McCorkle; and sisters: Jessie Kelly and Wilma G. Gibson.
Precious memories shall forever be cherished by his mother: Juanita J. McCorkle and sister: Ollie McCorkle both of Mt. Holly, North Carolina; sons: Bishop Rodney McCorkle of Dillon, South Carolina, Cedric McCorkle of Charlotte, North Carolina and Johnny McCorkle, Jr. (Andrea) of Spring, Texas; many children and grandchildren that he has been a father figure to; two aunts: Eliza Gibson and Ella Anderson both of Lowesville, NC; one brother-in-law: Gene Gibson, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
Public viewing will be Monday; February 22, 2021 at the funeral home from 2 until 6
Funeral: Tuesday; February 23, 2021; at Bethel Baptist Church, 1725 N. Main Street, Mt. Holly at 2:00 p.m.
Interment: Tuesday; March 2, 2021 at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury
Body will lie in state at the church beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday
