Ola Mae Sanders was born November 30, 1942 in Gastonia, North Carolina. She departed from her earthly home on September 16, 2022 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina. She was the only child born to the late Samuel McClee Wilson and the late Olivia Moore Wilson.
She attended Highland High School and was a member of the Class of 1960. Ola Mae was a member of Pleasant Ridge AME Zion church where she faithfully served on the usher board for many years. Ola Mae received the Spiritual Growth Award in May of 2000, The Lincolnton District of the AME Zion Church “Church Member of the Year in June of 2003 and the Senior Member of the Year from Pleasant Ridge AME Zion church in May of 2007. She enjoyed listening to Shirley Caesar and Prince. She loved to collect magnets and put them on her refrigerator and She had a Living room full of elephants. She was formally employed by Firestone Textile Mills for over 30 years and later retired. Ola Mae loved Fashion and shopping at her favorite stores New York and Company, JC Penney's and Belks. She has a very large and loving family that she took pride in. She often boasted about how many grands she had. Ola Mae was a “tell it like it is” person, a true Sagittarius with a big heart that would bend over backwards for you.
She is preceded in death by her parents Samuel McClee Wilson and Olivia Moore Wilson
Ola Mae leaves to cherish fond memories to her four children: Eric Wilson (Melissa) of Columbia, SC; Donald B. Sanders (Ronady) of Gastonia, NC; Fatima Sanders Gardin (the late John F Gardin, Sr.) of Dallas, NC; Phylliss Lowery (Steve) of Gastonia, NC. Seventeen grandchildren: Erica Gouty (Jason), Nerissa Roberts, Fatika Gardin, Min. Ondia Wyatt Petty (the late Joshua L. Petty), Ortavius Barnette, Demetris Woodard (Delton), Tasha Kelly, Shtonda Lowery (Thomas Andrews), Shakoora Woodson (Frederick), Gatangela Lowery, Johnika Gardin, John Gardin Jr., Iesha Lowery, Phierica Gardin, Lexus Thompson, Mariah Thompson and Samauni Lowery.
Forty-one great grandchildren: Joseph Gouty, Jeanna Garrett (Jared Garrett), Joyrdan Gouty, Jo’el Gouty, Jenesis Gouty, Kaira Roberts, Kynli Roberts, Kylie Roberts, Lauren Roberts, Langston Roberts, Aiden Roberts, Asantay Roberts, Alyssa Roberts, Alyvia Roberts, Bryanna Roberts, Bryan Roberts, Shamia Gardin, Jaylen Gardin, King Gardin, Jazlin Wyatt, Jalea Abrams, Johniya Abrams, Drake Hall, Jace Petty, Kazi Barnette, Tyasia Barnette, Li’Ta Barnette, Kyla Barnette, Arianna Woodard, Byron Woodard, Jaqwaylin Lowery, Calitri Lowery, Kaitlyn Lowery, Kayla Lowery, Saniya Gardin, Don’Yae Gardin-Newby, Ga’Mier Lowery, Daleshun Thompson, Jordan Floyd, Ja’Nia Floyd, Je’Kobe Floyd, Imirian Knox-Lowery.

One Sister: Antionette Rainey (the late Carlton Rainey); two nieces: Quintera Farr and Latoya Farr, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing at the funeral home on Friday; September 23, 2022 from 4 until 6.
Funeral on Saturday; September 24, 2022 at Tabernacle Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m with thirty minute visitation before the service.
Interment: Pleasant Ridge AME Zion Church Cemetery, Gastonia
