In honor of the extraordinary life of Rodney Fitzgerald Floyd, it is with heavy hearts that we share news of his passing on June 1st, 2023, at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas, NC. Rodney's journey began on June 17, 1968, when he was born to Mae Smith and the late Charles Floyd in Mecklenburg County.
Rodney's professional path led him through various endeavors, including his most recent role as a dedicated truck driver at Pratt Industries. He left an imprint on the City of Mount Holly, Collins and Aikman, Armtex, Burlington, Black and Decker, Cramerton Automotive, JP Stevens, and SD&L, forging lasting connections with colleagues who became lifelong friends.
An unwavering fan of the Panthers, Rodney's allegiance to the team was a testament to his loyalty and passion. Beyond the gridiron, he found joy in restoring and fixing cars, and his green thumb flourished as he meticulously cared for his own lawn and eagerly extended his services to those who welcomed his careful touch.
Rodney's memory will forever be cherished by his mother, Mae Smith; his sons, Rodney Ja’mond Floyd and Rodney Fitzgerald Floyd Jr.; his daughter, Kiara Morris (Steven), his sister, Sharlene Myers, his beloved grandchildren, Serenity Floyd, Oliver, and Sophia Morris; his niece, Armonie Myers, his nephews, Roshawn and Ron Floyd, and his fiancé, Tammy Currence. Alongside his immediate family, countless friends and relatives mourn the loss of a remarkable individual.
Remembered as a loving father, son, brother, pawpaw, and uncle, Rodney's infectious smile and magnetic personality brought laughter and happiness to countless lives. His absence will be deeply felt, and he will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

I was deeply saddened when I got the news Rodney had passed. I thought about the days we worked together at Cramerton Automotive. Those were some fun times. He always had that big smile on his face. And I would always tell him, looking like your Daddy. His love for cars and bikes was seen parked anytime on Ratchford Rd. My prayers go out to the Floyd family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Take your rest Rodney. 🕊 -Buffy Tate
