On December 15, 2020, Mr. Roscoe Artis departed this life at 8:00 a.m. in Hookerton, NC.
Roscoe Artis was born on December 2, 1941 to the late Leonard Scriven and Susanna Artis in Raeford, North Carolina. He attended Laurel Hill Elementary and Upchurch High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Jethro Artis.
Roscoe Artis leaves his love to his four children: Joyce Artis of Charlotte, NC, Curtis Artis of New York, Shanda McDowell of Gastonia, NC and Tron McDowell of Gastonia, NC; special friend: Miss Mary McDowell; four sisters: Pauline Smith of Fayetteville, NC, Jacquelyn Watts, Maxine Andrews and Kimberly Pride all of Buffalo, NY; two brothers: Earsel Pride of New Hampshire, and Winfred Pride of Atlanta, GA, four grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Roscoe , I leave with you my peace. I give unto you not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Add A Condolenceas if there wasn't enough reason already to hate this man, people should know that he allowed 2 innocent, mentally disabled boys, spend decades in prison for a rape and murder he committed. this dude then became a father figure to one of them after he was imprisoned for a DIFFERENT rape and murder.
he spent years listening to a man, who looked up to him, be assaulted, raped, and tortured by other inmates and guards (pedo prison justice), for a crime that he himself committed.
the world became a better place when this monster died.
Unfortunately he was not roasted on the chair!

The case of 1983 rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl solved by DNA.In 2014. On 24 September 1983, police in the small North Carolina town of Red Springs found the body of an 11-year-old white girl (rape and murder victim) in a soybean field. The perpetrator was identified by his DNA as Roscoe Artis who is lifelong criminal, who was a convicted murderer in a separate case.
Sympathy to the two girls who's lives were brutally taken away too soon because of this soulless man.
My deepest sympathies to 11 year old Sabrina Buie and her friends and family, who never got to see the man who tortured and murdered her brought to justice for his crimes.
Roscoe worked for me 15 years at the Jantorial Products Plant. I never knew him to not be honorable and truthful. He was always the gentleman even if he was an inmate. May he finally rest in pease. Forrest Fesperman, Retired
