Obituary For Tony Hinson

Mr. Tony was born on May 19, 1949, to George Hinson and Rosezinner Powe. In Chesterfield, South Carolina. He transitioned from his earthly home on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at his home surrounded by family.

Tony obtained his high school diploma from Cornerstone Online School in 2018. He was employed and retired from Hunter Douglas in Bessemer City, NC.

Mr. Tony connected with Friendship Christian Center in 2011 where he served as an Usher, the Kitchen Ministry and the Men’s Choir. He served with Celebrating Recovery at the Salvation Army and final service recovering and cleaning our church. Mr. Tony loved to dance and to shoot pool. He also loved to work and provide for his wife and children.

Mr. Tony was preceded in death by his father and mother, George Hinson and Rosezinner Powe; three sisters, Ms. Georgiana Hinson, Margie Watson, and Loretta Robinson, and three brothers, Walter Hinson, Richard Hinson, and Jerry Wallace.

Mr. Tony leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 27 years, JoAnn Lathan Hinson, whom he united with on December 27, 1995. Mr. Tony was given the opportunity to care and love for his children by the grace of God: Celeste Lavida Love of High Point, NC, Thea Omelia Hinson of Thomasville, NC, Tony Octavius Hinson, and Porsha Latisha Meadows of Gastonia, NC; his brother, Perry and wife Carrie Wallace of Eagle Springs, NC, Duralene and Neville Hamilton of Brooklyn, NY; eighteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; a host of Nieces and Nephews and cousins and Friends, and a host of Pittsburg Steelers Fans.

Viewing at the funeral home on Friday; May 19, 2023 from 4 until 6

Funeral on Saturday; May 20, 2023 at Friendship Christian Church, Gastonia at 1:00 with a thirty minute visitation before the service (12:30 p.m.)
