Mrs. Carol R. Velazquez was born as Carol Ruth Lee, to Gloria and Floyd Lee, Sr. on February 7, 1946 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital Hospital in New York City.

Carol attended St. John's Baptist Church on 152nd Street in Manhattan, along with her grandmother, Ruth Quinones, and siblings where she was baptized and sang in the choir. Carol graduated from Central Commercial High School where she majored in accounting in 1963.

Carol worked at NBC (Channel 4) in New York for over 25 years. She was married to Julius Velazquez and became a widow in November of 1993 when Julius died from cancer. Carol then moved to Maryland in 1999 and then came to Georgia in 2003 after being diagnosed with kidney failure. While in Georgia, Carol made many, many friends and acquaintenances. She was loved by everyone and known for her caring, giving and nurturing disposition.

Carol is survived by, her father Floyd N. Lee, Sr., who resides in Houston, TX; brothers, Floyd and Kevin; sisters, Michelle and Wendy; her nephews, Christopher and Courtney; her nieces, Shannon, Dana and Devynn; her grandnieces and grandnephews, Sonseray, Brielle, Johnnie, Courtney, D'Mani, Caleb, Quinn, Cheyenne, Aveyon, Cynne; cousins and friends in New York, Maryland and Georgia, as well as her relatives in Texas. Carol was recently united by siblings on her father's side who wanted to meet and get to know their oldest sister. They are brothers, Lester and Marcus; and sisters, Sharon, Deborah, Dorothy Fate and Yolanda Lee.
