Obituary For Charles Alvin Pattillo

Mr. Charles A. Patillo of Rex, Georgia passed March 2, 2012. Family and friends of Charles Alvin Pattillo will share reflections and celebrate his life as they gather at his residence, 5882 Hayes Lane, Rex, GA, at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 (which would have been his 80th birthday). Military honors will be observed. Charles Pattillo, a native of Atlanta's Renoldstown community, retired from the U.S. Air Force and was later employed by the Veteran's Administration. Charles Alvin Pattillo was born a “Grady Baby” on March 10, 1932, in Atlanta, GA to the late Grady Frank Pattillo and Julia Antoinette Reynolds-Pattillo. He departed this life on March 2, 2012. Charles was educated in the Atlanta, public school system where he attended Young Street Elementary and David T. Howard High Schools. He graduated Cum Laude from Saint Leo College where he received his B.A. degree. Charles served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years as a medic and retired in July, 1972. He also worked at the V.A. Medical Center as a counselor helping homeless veterans. Charles was affectionately known by relatives and friends as “Chuck” and “Red Fox.” He was proceded in death by his brother, Will Grady PAttillo, on 11-11-11. Those who cherish his memory include his daughters, Terry R. Pattillo, Tanya P. Casteal, Angela Hardy, Jackie Hardy, and Lisa Hardy-Chahine (Chuck); son Shawn Pattillo; 9 grandchildren, Jawon Pattillo, Christopher Pattillo, Migyel Hardy, Nakita Pattillo, Julia Davis, Lashonda Pattillo, Marcus Reese, D’Angelo Hardy and Alfred Chahine, 11 great grandchildren; adopted sisters, Ruth Simmons, Bernice Robinson; best friends, Hubert Sims and Joe Mattox and a number of dedicated and loving friends.

WOW. He was a good friend. I remember we used to share and have conversations at Lamar Regal Room, in Atlanta. That Afro no one else had class and dignity like Chuck. He was a class act. We also used to meet at the Busy Bee and Clendenin's on Hunter Street across from Pascals.
