Obituary For Costance Maurice Lovejoy

Constancce Maurice Lovejoy was born to Samuel M. Lovejoy and Pearl M. (Floyd) Lovejoy on January 3, 1948 in Opelika, Alabama. Constance was the most unique of babies...She was extremely bright, beautiful, and ready to conquer the world.

Constance moved with her parents and two younger siblings (Brenda and Deborah) to Munice, Indiana in 1952. She attended elementary, middle, and high school in Munice, and graduated from Southside High School in 1966. Connie was an excellent student, and excelled in all areas of the performing and visual arts.

Constance attended Ball State University, where she met her future husband, Ira Woodard. Constance and Ira married, and later became proud parents of a son, Mark Anthony Woodard.

In the early 1970's, Connie moved to Los Angeles, California. California proved to be the perfect location for Connie to launch her career. With her outgoing personality and ability to "sell anything", Connie was a natural in product marketing. She worked for years in the marketing departments of Singapore and Scandinavian Airlines, but her true calling was trumpeting the need for diversity in the workplace. Connie developed marketing plans for several large companies, and eventually opened her own executive search firm. Connie was very politicall active active in California, and worked as a strategist for several politicians.

Constance moved to Atlanta, and joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in 2002 under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Joseph L. Roberts, Jr.

Connie was bestowed with many special gifts. She was a singer, an actress, a great dancer, and an excellent conversationalist. Connie had a great presence and a dramatic sense of style. She could truly light up a room and make everyone feel as if they were the most important person in the there. She was a shining light on Earth, and a glowing spirit for all eternity.

Constance is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Leslie Woodard, grandchildren, Maya and Jalen Woodard, mother, Pearl M. Cleaves sister and brother-in-law Brenda and Bert Fitts, sister Dr. Deborah Lovejoy, nieces Amber Nave, Jada Price, Janee Price, nephews Evan Nave, Cameron Price.
