Obituary For Darren Anthony Lumar

Darren was born on June 15, 1970 at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the first born son of Vernadean Underwood and Harold Lumar and became the adoptive son of Charles Underwood at age 11. He received his early education in Edgard, Louisiana. His family later moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he graduated from high school at Smyrna Christian Academy.

Darren was baptized at an early age at Greater New St. Peter Baptist Church in Edgard, Louisiana. He later joined the New Jerusalem Baptist Church where he was a member of the youth choir.

Darren met Dr. Yamma Brown and they married on July 24, 1999 at Hopewell Baptist Church in Norcross, Georgia. From this union, two children were born: Sydney Kiara Lumar (9) and Carrington Alexander Lumar (7).

He leaves to mourn his mother, Vernadean Underwood his fathers, Harold Lumar and Charles Underwood, two children Sydney and Carrington Lumar, one brother, Dana Lumar, the mother of his children, Dr. Yamma Brown, three nephews, Blaylon, Kendall, and Daniel Lumar, one niece, McKinsey Lumar, his grandmother, Mrs. Sylvia August, his godmother, Mrs. Catherine Packer (Daniel), aunts, Carolyn (Preston) Gerard, Brenatta Lumar, Mildred Samuels, Dorris, Juaquetta, Vivian and Mary Alice; uncles, Emile (Earnstine) August, Ralph (Betty) August, Charles (Shirly) August, Anderson Lumar, Darryl Lumar, Mckinley, Lawrence, Norman, and Jerry Underwood.

Darren was preceded in death by his brother, Darwin Lumar, his maternal grandfather Emile August, Sr., his paternal grand-parents, Alma and Horris Lumar, his father -in-law, Music Legend James Brown, 3 aunts; Betty, Mabile and Bernice; 5 uncles, Herman, Morris, Helmond and Welmond Lumar and James Underwood.
