Dynton R. Griffin, recently of Stockbridge, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012.
The funeral service celebrating the life of Dynton Rothe Griffin will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 22, 2012 at St. Philip A.M.E. Church, 240 Candler Rd., S.E. The Rev. William D. Watley, pastor; the Rev. Larry D. Jones, eulogist. The body will lie in state one hour before the service. Interment Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Dynthon Rothe Griffin, born on Mothers Day, May 12, 1963 to the late W.N. Griffin, Jr. and Bessie Robinson Griffin. He was the second child out of three children. Dynton family celebrated his birthday on Mothers Day rather than on his date of birth as a precious reminder of Gods special gift. Dynthon attended Saint Thomas More Catholic School for his elementary years, Saint Pius X Catholic High School and Henry W. Grady High School from which he received his High School Diploma on May 26, 1977. Lifelong friendships developed among the members of his 8th grade class. They expresses their love, through their unwavering support during his lifes major events and milestones. Dynton dedicated his life to God at a very early age. He joined Saint Philip AME Church. As a member, he participated in many events, dedicating his talents to the churchs athletic department. Dynton joined Saint Philips basketball teams putting his all in every game. Dynton expressed to his pastor his dream of having an athletic facility built to provide a place where youth could participate in constructive character building that included their spiritual, emotional, intellectual and physical being. When the gymnasium was completed, Pastor More assured Dynton that his dream has come true. His involvement with sports also led him to dedicate his time and coaching abilities to developing the youth in the community at Bessie Brenham Park and Belvedere Park. Dynton entered into holy matrimony with Ms. Kathy Delaney, a native of St. Petersburg, FL, on September 17, 2012. Dynton and Kathys union was a blessing from God and their love is eternal. God was the center of their union. Kathy embraced his family and children as her own and set an example of Godly love. On June 13, 2012, Dynton joined his father in his Fathers Heavenly Kingdom. There he will sorrow no more. He has no more pain to bear. Now he rest in heaven watching over love one he left behind, a loving wife, Mrs. Kathy DeLaney Griffin, one son, Branton Griffin, three daughters: KeBria (Jamal) Abdul-Rahman, Brittny (Genard) Williams, Brisharri Griffin; five granddaughters: Zakiyah Abdul-Rahman, Atya, Giselle, Madison and Savannah; mother, Bessie R. Griffin; two sisters, Feleicia Griffin and C. Kia Griffin; five aunts, Mrs. Neva Pressley (Jesse), Ms. Ruth Roberts, Ms. Miram DeShazor, Ms. Clara Griffin, Mrs. Valerie Jones (Jonathan); uncle, Mr. Mylas Griffin, three great aunts, Ms. Katheryn Robinson, Mrs. Alice Moore, Mrs. Lucille Robinson; brothers-in-law, Mr. Kenneth Delaney, Mr. Kelvin Delaney, Mr. Keith Delaney, Mr. Mark McCormick, Leonard Bates; sister-in-law, Denise Simmons (Arthur); god-sons, William and Nicholas Griffin; and a host of other realtives and friends.
