John Andrew Dickerson was born early on a Wednesday morning, on the 18th of February 1987 in Atlanta, Georgia.
John was a beautiful, loving child with a sunny disposition who developed into a charming, intelligent and likable man. His smiling face had the power to light any soul he encountered.
Johns greatest love was his daughter Tatiana Rene-Marie Dickerson, born March 10, 2006. She was the light of his life and the source of his greatest joy. For all of his working life John diligently created beautiful music as the tapestry reflecting his soul. He also worked for the State of Georgia Department of Labor as a Service Assistant. John was a full-time student at DeKalb Technical College. He hoped to become a music entrepreneur.
Johns family was most blessed in 2003. A mysterious illness had so weakened his heart that survival came only with heart transplantation. For five wonderful years after this gift of life, we shared our lives with an amazing, gifted and strong young man. He reminded us often that every day was a blessing to him from God. On Wednesday, May 27, 2009, God called His beloved son John to his heavenly home.
John is mourned by his daughter, Tatiana, his mother, Marilyn Dickerson, his father, Jeff Dickerson, Sr., his stepmother, Vonda Dickerson, his brothers, Jeff Jr., Joel and Adam and his sister, Lia; his Grandmothers Dolores Marshall and Elvia Jenkins, his step-grandfather William Marshall, his loving Aunts Tanya White, Yvette Jenkins, Ruth Finn, Charla Allen, Joann Kirk and Susan Jenkins; his Uncles: Stefan Dickerson, Richard White, Dwayne Finn, Cornelius Allen and Terry Kirk, his cousins, Taryn Kirk, Ashley Jenkins, Andrew White, Sydney Shelton, Gabrielle Kirk, Zahkia Finn, Kourtney Jackson, Alexander Reynolds, and Cornelius Allen III; his beloved friend, Shaniece Harris, and many loving family members and dedicated friends.
Much like the ocean was a magnet for John, his love for family and friends was our magnet. We were drawn strongly to him by his love for us. Thus we are all deeply thankful to God for blessing us with His gift of John in our lives.
