Mr. John Gillette passed on Sunday, January 12, 2014.
Celebration of life for Mr. John Gillette will be held Thursday, January 16, 2014 11:00 AM at Christ The Lord Church of Atlanta 3760 Glenwood Rd. Rev. Earl A. Caruthers, Sr., Pastor Officiating. Interment, Georgia Memorial Park. Remains in state at 10:00a.m. Family and friends will assemble at the church at 10:30 AM.

Mr. John Alan Gillette was born October 10, 1946 in St. Charles, Missouri to late Mr. James Edwin Gillette and the late Mrs. Myrtle Maxey Gillette. John was the fourth boy of seven boys.
John grew up in St. Charles, Missouri and graduated from St. Charles High School. While in high school, he was a member of the baseball team. After high school, he was drafted by the Cincinnati Red Minor League team. He was a left handed pitcher and could throw the ball 100 mph. Shortly afterward, in 1965 he was drafted into the United States Army. He retired from the Army after twenty-one (21) years of service.
During his career in the U.S. Army, he received the Army Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Unit Citation, Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Overseas Service Ribbon (2), Expert (M-16 Rifle), Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters.
He was married to Ms. Ok Cha Ko and to this union Daniel was born.
John was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Don Gillette and Melvin Gillette.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ok Cha Gillette; son, Daniel (Yong) Gillette; four brothers, Ken (Terri) Gillette, Jim Gillette, Wayne Gillette and Larry (Martha) Gillette; grandchildren, Catie (Patrick), Sheryle, Neil and Matthew; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
