Obituary For Karen Kay Townsend

Mrs. Karen Townsend was born to Mr. Ruben and Mrs. Mable Thomas Powell on May 8, 1945, in Newton, Kansas, but was raised in El Paso, Texas. Karen was employed with AT&T and retired after twenty-five years.

Karen was married and blessed with three children. Triaune Johnson, Trish King,and Triec Townsend. Karen was a loving and devoted mother.

Karen was a member of Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church. She was a former Girl Scout leader in Colorado and an active member of Smooth Ashlar Grand Lodge. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. Her wisdom, smile and kind words will be missed by all.

Karen leaves to cherish her memory: her daughters, Mrs. Triaune Johnson, Mrs. Trish King; and a son, Mr. Triec Townsend all of Decatur; two brothers, Mr. Edwin (Sheila) Powell of Texas and Mr. Robert Powell of Michigan; one sister, Mrs. Judith (Holiston) Murphy of Georgia; five grandchildren, Trionne Johnson, Eiela Ray, Allik Townsend, Sol Townsend, and Eyana Johnson; three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by four siblings, Mr. Amos Hines, Mr. Ruben Powell, Mrs. Henritta Ragland, Mr. Chester Powell; and a grandson, Mark Thomas.
