Interment will be held at Forest Hill Memorial Gardens 722 Conley Road Forest Park, GA 30297. Linda Jean Morris Woods, of Stone Mountain, Georgia traveled to be with our Lord on Monday March 14, 2022 after reaching the blessed age of 73 years old. After a long and productive life, she transitioned peacefully surrounded by those who loved her dearly her Beloved daughter Leslie and husband Tracy. Her Beloved brother, Lawrence joined shortly.
Linda was born on August 31, 1948 in Danville, Ill. to Leona Rouse Morris and Louis Benjamin Morris. She was in the middle of six children. After graduating from Danville High School in 1967, she went to Danville Junior College for a year, and then Northern Illinois University 1968-69, and then Roosevelt University in Chicago. She graduated in May 1972.
She was recruited in Chicago to teach in Las Vegas, Nevada. She started in September 1972. After four years she went to the University of Illinois for one year and got her Masters degree in Conducting. In 1977 she started teaching in East St. Louis and married Samuel Tracy Woods, Jr. in December 1977. They lived three years in Belleville, Illinois. This union created a beautiful child, Leslie Aaron Woods. Tracy's son, Cameron joined them from time to time.
The family moved to Galesburg, Illinois in 1980 where Tracy was promoted. Linda started teaching there after 4 years. In 1987 they chose to move to Atlanta. She was a successful teacher in DeKalb County for 10 years. In 1998 she stopped teaching to bring her ill parents to live with her and family. In 2001, she started teaching in Clayton County. In 2006, she came back to teach in DeKalb County. Linda retired in 2012. Linda's teaching at all six district was very successful and above average. Her choirs got first place and superior rating in all contests they were involved.
She was preceded in glory by her parents Louis Benjamin Woods and Leona Rouse Morris. By three of her brothers: Louis Keith Morris, Leslie Carl (Veta) Morris and Lee Benjamin (Terry) Morris.
Linda is survived by her husband Tracy Woods; her daughter, Leslie Aaron Woods; her grandson, Benjamin and her stepson Cameron. Her loving sister, L. Pamela Morris and loving brother, Laurence Walter (Ella Mary) Morris. She also leaves behind a legacy including a host of family and friends.
