Mrs. Mary Gilliard, 91, passed Thursday, May 30, 2013.

A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Mary Jane Gilliard of 1200 Glenwood Ave., Apt. 906 will be 12 noon Thursday, June 6, 2013 at First Saint Peter AME Church, 1074 South Indian Creek Drive, Stone Mountain, GA. The Reverend Alexis Brookins, I, Pastor, officiating. Her body will lie in state one hour before the service. Interment Dawn Memorial Cemetery. The cortege will assemble at 1718 Donnalee Ave., Atlanta, GA at 11:00am.

Mrs. Mary Jane GIlliard was born on January 22, 1922 in Swainsboro, Georgia to the late Charlie and Almedia Strickland. She was preceded in death by her only sibling, Emma. She was a graduate of Northside High School in Waycross, Georgia.

Mary was married to the late Joseph Price and to that union two children were born. She later married the late Reverend W.T. Gilliard and relocated to Atlanta, Georgia.

Mary was a faithful member of Saint Peter AME Church for many years and was an emeritus member of the Stewardess Board.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Kenneth Smith. Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Joann Price and Geraldine Thomas (Harrison); three grandchildren, Vickie Christie (Denole), Teryn Brown (Gary) and Chadrick Thomas (Kimberly); four great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
