Obituary For Mother Evelyn Jackson

In profound sorrow we announce the passing of Mother Evelyn Jackson on Friday, December 13, 2019. Celebration of Life will be held , December 21, 2019 11:00am at Harvest Rain Church International Church, Visitation will be Friday, December 20, 2019 12-6pm at Grissom-Clark Funeral Home.

Evelyn Elizabeth Jackson, eldest daughter of five children to the late Willie and Sadie Murphy, born May 21, 1930 in Atlanta, Ga. There she joined in holy matrimony her late husband Joseph Jackson at the young and wise age of 15. Their union blessed them with eleven vibrant children! Mrs. Jackson made her final resting on December 13th, 2019 and was called home to be with the Lord. Preceding her in death; siblings Pearlene Stephens, Helen Byrum and brother Willie Murphy Jr. Sister Joann Williams lives on keeping the faith.

Mrs. Jackson accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age in life where she was a member of Saint Stevens Church of God in Christ, under the teachings and leadership of Elder Moses. She was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord. For the past 10 years she has been a member of Eternal Word Ministries where she was led under the teachings of Pastor Kirk Arnold.

Throughout her journey in life she never missed an opportunity to bestow wisdom and knowledge in the lives of her children and others. She was known for her stylish attire and “get you together memorable expressions. "These young folks don't believe cow horns will hook", "I rather be an old man's baby than a young man's fool". She was also known, in her younger days as a "Pistol Packing Momma" (meaning she didn't take no junk LOL.) One of her most famous sayings was "Sometimes the good have to suffer with the bad". These phrases will resonate forever in the hearts and minds of those whom love her dearly. Mrs. Evelyn Jackson heart was pure, and she always looked out for people. She would not only give you the shirt off her back but feed you if need be. She was a lovely soul, that met no stranger. She was caring, giving, and most of all authentic were her trademarks.

Mrs. Evelyn Jackson transitioned to her heavenly home where she reunites with her beloved children: Joseph "Boot" Jackson, Evelyn Elaine Jackson-Owens (Sam), Donald "Duck" Jackson, Tony Lanear Jackson (Natasha) and Gail (Lil Girl) Kimble-Mitchell (Curtis). She leaves to carry on her fulfilled life legacy: Pastor Larry Jackson (Bernice), Vickie Jackson (Harold), Wanda Jackson, Angela Tucker (Charles), Minister Charles Jackson (Julia), and Tracia Jackson. In addition, celebrating her life remains thirty-five grandchildren, seventy-three great-grandchildren, and a magnitude of great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
