Charlie Byrd Jones of Atlanta, Georgia, passed from this life into the next on November 12, 2011, after a brief illness. He was born in Albany, Georgia to Will and Mary Byrd Jones on February 16, 1917. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Charlie served in World War II in both the European and Asian Theatres. Following his military service, he held many positions as a member of the International Brotherhod of Teamsters. Charlie was precededin death by his parents, as well as his wife Sarah A. Jones. He lost two daughters as well, Willie Belle Henry and Ruby Lee Wallace. He is survived by 12 grandchildren: 12 grandchildren, Elaine Cummings, Josephine Banks, Patricia King-Jones, Darlene Henry, Carl Henry, Anita Dew, Sharon Henry, Kenneth Henry, Pamela Smith, Darryl Culverson, Edie Kelley, Eric Culverson; in addition to several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren a host of other relatives and friends also mourn his passing.
