In profound sorrow we announce the passing of Mr. Derrick Dennis of Stone Mountain, Ga on November 2, 2019. Celebrating the Life of Mr. Derrick Dennis will be at Saturday, November 9, 2019 1:00 PM at Spirit and Truth Sanctuary 2915 Midway Rd. Decatur, GA. Interment Melwood Cemetery. Viewing Friday, November 8, 2019 12-6pm Grissom Eastlake Chapel.

Mr. Derrick Tyrone Dennis was born in Greenville, SC on September 30, 1964 to Joe and Gloria Dennis. He was the oldest of five children and a proud 1983 graduate of C.L. Harper High School In Atlanta, Georgia. Derrick accepted Christ at an early age and evidenced an amazing soul for Christ.

Manhood was central to Derrick's life. He was known by all to be the family protector, ever ready to sacrifice for those he loved. Derrick was a fan of comic books, excelled at chess and drawing, and enjoyed Bruce Lee movies. Derrick didn't have children of his own and was a devoted uncle. He adored and cared for all of his nieces and nephews as if they were his own.

Derrick's heart was full of love for his entire family. His gentle spirit allowed him to touch and comfort the hearts of many. He brought so much laughter to every situation and was young at heart, best known for the ‘booger touch'.

Derrick was preceded in death by his father, Joe Dennis.

Derrick leaves lasting memories in the hearts of a loving mother, Gloria Dennis; brother, Dale Bailey; sisters Audrey Dennis, Stephanie Ashford (B.K.), and Joey Dennis; nieces, Candice, Lauryn, Lindsay, Leah, Skye and great niece Ava; nephew Devin Dennis and a host of cousins, aunts, and uncles within the McCrary family.
