Earnest James Floyd, was born on January 30, 1938 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Will (Addie) Floyd in Newton County, Georgia. He was the nineteenth child of twenty. He grew up and attended Newton County Public schools. At an early age, he joined Livingston Chapel C.M.E. Church in Covington, Georgia. Upon relocating to Atlanta, he gained employment at Associated Groceries, where he worked for many years. He was also employed by Georgia Duck and Cordage Mill until his health failed. His joy in life was making people laugh and keeping a smile on the faces of people. He never met a stranger. In addition, none of us would ever be broke as he owed all of us “quarters” for the many acts of kindness you would do for him. Earnest departed this life on October 19, 2015. His memories will be cherished by his daughter maternal daughter, Dornesha (Darrell) Smith; God-given daughter, LaMeeka (Nicky) Ghee: one granddaughter, Kenya Hardrick; a devoted sister, Mrs. Mary Louise Williams; devoted brother-in-law, Mr. Hardee Usher, Sr.; special friend, Ms. LouNell Ghee; special nephew, Ed Wooten, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
