Eloshua Robert “Bob” Elliot was born on November 24, 1944, in Decatur, Alabama, to Gertrude and Charles Elliott Sr, and on Saturday, September 20, 2025, peacefully departed this life, with his son Raymond and his wife Summer Renae, his caretakers for the past three years, by his side.
Bob, along with his mother and siblings, traveled from Alabama to Louisville, Kentucky, in the late 1950s. He attended schools in the Jefferson County Public School System and was raised in a supportive church family. His oldest brother, Charles Elliott Jr., baptized him, sowing the seeds of faith that would influence all of Bob’s pursuits.
In 1962, with a bold heart and an eye for opportunity, he left Kentucky for New York City. Bob launched Nice People Paint & Collision. Equipped with a police scanner and a tow truck, he became known as a “Chaser,” often arriving at accident scenes first to secure jobs for body work. During this time, he met and married his first wife, Willemina, and from their union, Fitzgerald and Gregory were born.
Bob later partnered with Clayton Lumsden and Clayton’s Auto, where he helped build a thriving presence in the auto body industry. Before long, Bob ventured out on his own and established Bob’s Auto Gallery, which is still a staple in the neighborhood of Jamaica, Queens, with the original sign. Together with the help of his brother Joe Nathan, he expanded to several body shops, providing employment and training for many.
After years of success in New York, in 1994, Bob made another bold business move by relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife and business partner, Cyndy, and their family. Together, they built an entrepreneurial legacy, expanding into real estate acquisitions throughout East Atlanta and developing a multi-million-dollar portfolio of properties and businesses, which drew attention from local Atlanta publications that highlighted their success and community impact.
Among Bob’s proudest achievements was his beloved Eastlake Auto Works, a cornerstone of the Eastlake community. With expert craftsmanship and open-handed benevolence, he served countless customers. A genuine people person, Bob treated his employees and customers like family. Each year, he hosted an annual employee and family picnic where no expense was spared. It was a celebration of gratitude, fellowship, and joy that became a tradition. His success was never solely his own; it served as a platform for giving back, as he gave generously to Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, his relatives, employees, and anyone who needed a hand up.
Bob’s personal life reflected the same steadfastness he brought to business. A devoted father, he stood faithfully by all his children, cheering their academic milestones, supporting their careers, and embodying the ministry of presence. His home was always a gathering place where laughter mingled with the fragrance of love and acceptance.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude and Charles Elliott, Sr.; his beloved son, Gregory Elliott; and his brothers, John Henry, Mose, Elgin Elliott, Sr., Oliver Goodlow, Sr., and Willie Mason.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sons Fitzgerald (Arden) and Raymond (Summer) Elliot, Nasir Brown; daughters Sunday Abell (Leonard), Pamela Darby, Danielle Stevenson (Darryl), Marilyn and Robin Elliott, Elosha Anderson, Sarah Joy Burton, Destiny Elliott, Kelly Ann Jones; 27 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; brothers, Charles Elliott Jr., James Elliott, Sr., Tommy (Delois) Elliott, Sr., Joe Nathan Elliott, Sr., Joe Cephas (Wilma) Elliott, Sr., George (Arlene) Elliott, Sr., Carnell (Beverly) Elliott, Sr., Leroy (Katie) Elliott, Sr., Marvin Elliott, Sr., Quinton (Alfenia) Elliott, Derrick (Antoinette) Elliott, and his sisters Pearl (Charles) Lucas, Annie Christine Summers, Sylvia Sloss, Suzette (Donny) Garth, Quania (Jim) Randolph, Djuanna (Dave) Mitchell, Janette (John) Cooper, Barbara Cunningham, Earnestine Brown, Patricia Mason and Jeanette Upchurch; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, countless employees and friends.
