Obituary For Mr. Jesse Lee Benton
Jesse Lee Benton, age 86 of Atlanta, GA, transitioned on Tuesday, November 2, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Eula Pearl Combs Benton; children, Josephine Combs (Robert) Billingsley, Crawfordville, GA, Alma Jean Benton, Cleveland, OH, Lonnie (Gloria) Benton, Decatur, GA, Sharon Benton, Lithonia, GA, Constance (Jerome) White, Lithonia, GA, Paula (Dewayne) Lynch, Snellville, GA, Medgar Van Benton, Decatur, GA; 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Jesse was born in Monticello, GA on September 17, 1924. He attended school in Jasper County and served in the United States Army as a sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1946. He retired from Bristol-Myers Squibb as the Warehouse Manager after 25 years of dedicated service. Funeral service will be 11:00am Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Saint Philip AME Church, 240 Candler Road, S.E., Atlanta, GA, Reverend George Moore, Senior Pastor, Reverend Larry Jones, Assistant Pastor and eulogist. Family and friends will assemble at the church at 10:30am. Interment, Southview Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 7pm-8pm at Grissom-Clark Funeral Home, 227 East Lake Dr., S.E. (at Memorial Drive), (404) 373-3191
