In profound sorrow we announce the passing of Mr. Kevin T. Thomas. Celebration of Life will be Friday , May 23, 2025 11.00am at Antioch A.M.E Church 760 South Hairston Rd. Stone Mountain, GA 30088.
Kevin Timothy Thomas was born on February 11, 1955, in Washington, DC to the late Mary Christine Smallwood-Hill and late Clarence Thomas. He was the first boy and 2nd child of four siblings. Kevin grew up in Southern Maryland attending the Charles County Public School system. Kevin passed away suddenly on Monday, May 5, 2025.
Kevin was always inquisitive, experimenting with different foods and outfits and was always questioning how the world worked! So, when he turned 15, his free spirit decided to leave school, his hometown and the world he knew to venture out into the wild blue yonder!
At the age of 24, Kevin met and married the love of his life, Hattie Curlila “Ce-Ce”I Thomas. From this union two beautiful children were born, Curlila Nicole Thomas (who preceded him in death) and Noah A. Thomas.
Once he settled down and discovered the responsibility of a family, he created and got a fabulous job with Turner Broadcasting and through this job, Kevin began to fly like an eagle, he soared. Turner sent him to many places so he could experience his wildest dreams. He got his passport and for 20+ years he experienced some of his dreams.
Kevin somehow managed to achieve a musical prowess developing his love of music and musical instruments. The drums and guitars were his specialty. At one time Kevin had acquired 6+ guitars telling his family these were his investments.
While working at Turner, Kevin received an Emmy for being part of the TV show “ NBA TNT”, he was a stagehand for more than 30 years.
Kevin cherished his family and there was no task too great for him. Kevin’s heart was big, and he did not play when it came to his family. Even during tragedy, he and his wife dedicated their lives to raising their four grandchildren (Makiyah, Masiah, Jamar and Jamir) after their daughter’s untimely transition. Kevin was a spiritual man and showed his love of God through his family and his friendships.
He was a man who loved a good adventure and anything to do with the outdoors, but anyone who knew him could tell fishing was his go to. On Kevin’s latest bucket list, he was planning to go to Martha’s Vineyard. He had bought an airline ticket and was to meet his sister in Providence, RI to get carried onto the Island by ferry to spend 3-4 days in Oak Bluff with a family friend. Kevin planned to tour the entire Island and take pictures of John Belushi’s gravesite, and the Garden of Memories exhibited on the Island.
Survived by his wife Curlila “Ce-Ce” Thomas; son, Noah Thomas; granddaughter, Makiyah Williams; grandsons, Masiah, Jamar and Jamir Thomas; Sisters, Cassandra Muschette and Nannette White; Brother, Nathaniel Thomas (Barbara Jean “BJ”), and a host of sister and brother in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
