Mr. Lascelles George Rankine was born on August 25, 1946 in Berkshire, Westrmoreland, Jamaica. He was the youngest of 7 children to Cephas Rankine and Emil (Emily) Rankine.
Las graduated from Pisgah All-Age School in Elizabeth. He went to work for D&G ( Desnoes & Geddes) Beverage Co. After 29 years of employment, Lascelles retired as a forklift operator and migrated to the United States in 1997 with his family.
Las was a man who embraced his life to the fullest and a very fun-loving person. He loved his family unconditionally and genuinely loved social events. Even through he never played any sports professionally, he was an avid sports fan, embracing cricket and football (aka soccer) in his hometown and football in U.S.
Lascelles G. Rankine is survived by his children, Phillip (Patrick) Rankine, of Maryland; Matthew Rankine, Suzanne Rankine, and Dwight Rankine, all in Jamaica, and Ricardo (Ricky) Rankine of Atlanta. Surviving also are :21 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Waldon Rankine and Elvin (Johnny) Rankine; sisters, Iris Rankine; former wife, Evelyn Rankine-Scott; a host of nieces and nephews, and well-wishers.
In addition to his parents, Las was preceded in death by his sister, Violet Barrett and 2 brothers.
