Tommy Lee Peters II was born on October 17, 1948, to Elva N Peters and Tommy L. Peters. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, two sisters, and two brothers.
He joined our Father in heaven on July 25, 2021.
He is survived by his lovely and devoted wife, Marithes Peters, seven children - Raford Peters, Sherry Johnson, Terri Pucket, Tommy Peters III, Josuah Mari Penalosa, Frances Claire Grass, and Job Mari Penalosa; ten grandchildren - Troy Perkins Jr., Enicia Porter, Rasean Peters, Ayana Peters, Genesys Knuckles, Rosie Puckett, Ronnel Johnson, Lonnel Johnson, Shannel Johnson, and Joshua Leander Grass; twelve great grandchildren, one brother, Mauryce Peters Tillman, one sister, Tomeka Peters, and two sister in laws, Shirley Peters and Pixie Peters, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
“You can do whatever you set your mind to”, this is what Tommy would say if someone were to ask him a piece of advice about life. He certainly lived it. Driven, passionate and kind, Tommy succeeded in whatever was set ahead of him - from his 40+ years of management career in the food and beverage industry, his DIY home and car projects, to being a husband, brother, and father.
He loved life - traveled overseas, ate all cuisines, did multiple cross-country trips, explicitly expressed his love for LSU Tigers, and dominated the kitchen, to name a few. He was an outstanding cook. If he wasn’t in the kitchen cooking, he was in the garage tinkering with his Chevrolet cars. If he wasn’t in the garage, he was in the backyard building his patio. Tommy was a jack of all trades but also a master of one - he was a master of selfless, sacrificial love. More than anything, he loved his family the most. He lived his life to provide for his loved ones and pour love and wisdom into their lives.
The way he loved emulated the way God loves. He had the heart of a servant. He served his family, friends, and community in whatever way he could even up to his last days. But what’s most memorable about Tommy’s last days was how he talked about God being faithful and good to him all his life that if he were to begin listing his blessings down, it would take him months and he wouldn’t be alive to finish it. His heart was full of gratitude and peace as he reunited with God knowing he fulfilled his earthly purpose and can now rest and rejoice in His holy presence.
Tommy will be painfully missed. But his legacy remains in the hearts of everyone he touched, and he will always be dearly loved.
I remember when you set your own Corvette on fire just so you could buy a house in Riverside. People need to be careful how they treat people, you never know when it will come back to haunt you. There's so much more I could tell about the real Tommy, the real Tommy. You went out of your way to call me and let me know that somebody stole your car. No they didn't. That's one of the oldest tricks in the game. You set your own Corvette on fire just so you could buy a house in Riverside. I remember when you use to keep Rayford locked up in his room like a caged animal, and serve him his meals on a tray like he was a prisoner. You kept him locked up in his room like a caged animal. Your other kids never called you Dad, they called you Tommy. So you just replaced your black kids with another family. N***** do that all the time, sell out. In the real world it's called self-hatred, and boy did you have it. Why did you call your wife ghetto when you're the ghetto one. And the way you always complained about how Tess is so insecure and so jealous. She's so jealous. How many other women were you talking to behind your wife's back. Your third, fourth, fifth, sixth wife. How many wives did you have? You and nephew thought you were so cool that night the way you played me and my girlfriend. Y'all thought you were so cool, like you was really doing something, ghetto style. Forcing someone to have sex with you ain't cool at all. Is your dead ass cool now, huh, are you cool now?
She was the third wife or maybe the fourth and a person's track record speaks for itself
Tommy had a kind heart. We had a 9 year love relationship. Where ever we went that music was available Tommy would have them play "AT LAST" by Etta James. At Last my love has come along. He was so kind and thoughtful and giving. He kept calling me and writing me even after he got married to Marithes, until I told him to let me go. Greatly missed by so many people.
You came to me in a dream apologizing for all the dirt you did to me. That dream was so lucid it made me Google you and I saw your obituary. I tried so hard not to laugh. Remember when you forced me to sleep with you. How else was I going to get home. I didn't even know you, but I didn't know where I was and I had no way to get home. Didn't know Phyllis was going to leave me. By the way that was my dress Phyllis had on. Yeah, Richard jacked off all over my favorite dress cuz that was my s*** Phyllis was wearing. You used to cry to me all the time about your wife, your kid's mother, your first wife, your real wife, your real wife. The way you cried and cried and cried. The way you flirted with my son's godmother in front of Jesse and me. The way you dissed me in front of all your friends. Why did you call me a b****, showing off for your ghetto friends. You told Jesse, she's so bougie, she ain't used to being around common colored folks. You were so jealous of me, so jealous because you're ghetto. Why were you always calling your kid's mom ghetto, you the one who was ghetto. Remember when you hit me in front of Rayford. Remember when you hit me, knock the s*** out of me, in my face, all up in my head, in front of your son. I thought it was time that your second wife knows who you really are, and your karma finally caught up with you. Yeah, you came to me in a lucid dream apologizing, you sure did, and after I saw your obit, I laughed. The last conversation we had you were crying to me about your health issues. Karma is that b****, isn't it, it sure is.
I owe a great deal of my success to Tommy,he became my mentor when we worked at Church's Fried Chicken. He soon became my friend. I will miss him.

Sending my heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Peters, Tommy III, Sherri, Terri(Kier), and the entire Tommy Peters Family. From the time I met Tommy, I knew that he was a special person. Always competitively driven in every area of life. He wasn't satisfied with just any old thing off of the rack - Nah! Tommy had to create things in his offices, at his homes, in his yards, and elsewhere. I remember when he designed his own special getaway room entirely in black and white separated by a full black drape. He was such a perfectionist and he appreciated beauty. Tommy, you aimed for success and a life of love and luxury and you had that and more for the greatest part of your life.
I can never forget how you, Pie, and Hiawatha began at Paul Quinn College and ended up in Church's World magazine on a regular basis. And then you all three became successful. You were truly one of a kind, and you were always a loving blessing to your family and to others. You left lessons and a legacy! Take your well-earned rest, Tommy Peters, until we meet up in the clouds. - Vern
