Bill Cozzens, of Atlanta, GA passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at age 71 the only child of William & Hildred Cozzens.
Bill graduated Tucker H.S. and the University of Georgia. He was a founding member of the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) where his lifelong journey for Social Justice began. His activism against the Vietnam War later evolved into his passion for Civil Rights and Equal Rights for all. He was a tireless fighter serving on many committees including the Martin Luther King March Committee. In 1972 as a member of the Friendship Force was one of the first Americans invited to visit China. He travelled to China three times promoting good will and friendship. He was also very involved and active in the Communication Workers of America (CWA). Serving in many leadership roles during his 40 year membership. He retired after 41 years at OFS in Norcross. In retirement he and his wife Noreen have been travelling and cruising to destinations all over the world, while Bill also continue his humanitarian work.
Bill was an avid Jimmy Buffett fan and considered himself Buffetts’ first Atlanta fan as he was the only one in attendance when Buffet made his first Atlanta appearance. He was a loyal Georgia Bulldog fan and a 38 year Falcon season ticket holder, Rise Up!
Bill is survived by his wife, Noreen and his step-son Thomas Lewis and many dear family members and friends. Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 9th at 11:00 am at the CWA Local 3204, 279 Logan Street SE, Atlanta, GA 30312.
