Obituary For Mrs. Easter Mae Bowen

This life story begins in a small southern town by the name of Magnolia Arkansas. On April 20, 1930, Easter Mae Bowen was born to parents Roosevelt and Willie Paschal. She was raised in a Christian home with very strong traditional values. She was one of five children and she had all brothers: Hurtis, Coleman, Troy and Ben.

She was an excellent student in school and graduated from Columbia High School in Magnolia, Arkansas in 1949. At an early age she decided to move to Detroit, Michigan where she live for a few years in the early 1950’s. There she made an attempt to establish herself as a working person but was not able to secure the kind of consistent employment that she desired. She then decided to move to Lansing, Michigan where her brother Coleman Paschal lived. After some time there she was able to land an excellent job working for General Motors and she became an assembly line worker making American cars.

This was an excellent job and she now was making the kind of money necessary to sustain her and her family as she was a single parent. She was the proud mother of two children with her daughter Harriette B Briggs being the oldest and her son Ricardo Glover.

Since she was a strong believer in the Risen Savior by the name of Jesus Christ she became a faithful member of the Union Baptist Church in Lansing, Michigan. She remained there for a very long time and continued to grow in her faith. She was a very attractive woman who was known for her very loving, kind spirit and a person who absolutely had a radiant smile. She had a very natural way of wanting to help other people and to share her faith.

She spent most of her vacation time every year going back home to Magnolia, Arkansas to assist and help her parents. Her love and respect for her parents was very obvious and very plain for the whole world to see.

She was a very peaceful and classy lady as she loved to dress well and loved keeping a beautiful home as it was always immaculate and with traditional style. She loved decorating and she had a strong sense of design and it was very evident wherever she lived. She enjoyed flower arrangement and she would do a number of her own pieces that would be on display. She eventually as time went on became excellent in the art of crocheting. She also had an incredible love for Christmas, she understood the reason for the season, but would thoroughly decorate the home, and would keep those decorations up long past the holiday! And let us not forget that she would send out 50 to 75 Christmas cards every year, and was overjoyed when she got responses.

After raising her children and having worked at General Motors for 27 ½ years she retired. She decided to move back south but she moved into the Atlanta Georgia area in the city of Decatur where her son already lived. She was able to accomplish one of her greatest dreams when she moved there, because she was able to buy her first home! She eventually became a member of the Ray of Hope Christian Church in Decatur and she truly enjoyed the ministry there and continued her relationship with the Lord.

This beautiful lady went home to be with the Lord on April 19th 2018 at 1:07 a.m. She had lived a long and beautiful life. The road was not easy especially in her younger adult years, but because of her relationship with the Lord she continued to press on and move forward! This was one beautiful person who loved the Lord, loved her family and her friends and we Celebrate her life today and she will be missed. She leaves to cherish her memory: a brother, Hurtis Paschal; a daughter Harriette B. Briggs (Edward) ; a son Ricardo Glover; grandchildren, Nanette Benson and RaShon Briggs; great grandchildren, Rashonda and Larry; four great, great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

May you rest in peace!!
