Obituary For Mrs. Josephine Daniels Tate

Mrs. Josephine Tate passed away on June 8th, 2015 at WellStar Tranquility Hospice in Austell, Georgia. Josephine was born on September 4, 1940 in Kansas City, Kansas to Henry Daniels and Gaitha Taylor. Gaitha was a part of Josephine’s life for 16 years, when she passed away due to complications during surgery. Que Wallace filled the void to assume the responsibilities as mother, friend, and confidant.

Josie grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. She graduated from Sumner High School located in Kansas City, Kansas in with the awesome class of 1958. Josephine attended University of Kansas in Lawrence, After college, she began work for Commercial National Bank as a teller where she worked for several years. Josephine then pursued a career as a secretary; where she worked for Senator Bob Dole for seven years. In 1977, she started her career at Trans World Airlines as a secretary. She was promoted to Employment Representative for the Western region. Josephine was always a risk taker, and moved to Los Angeles to assume her full duties in 1986. She retired from TWA and was heavily involved in the church. In 2005, she and Bob move to Atlanta, GA to be closer to her family. Her last job was at Trader Joe’s where she was loved and adored as “Ms. Jo” until she retired in 2011.

Josie married Robert “Bob” Eugene Tate, Sr. on June 11, 1961 in Kansas City, Missouri. They were happily married for 53 years. Josephine was an avid reader, loved to travel, embraced life, and welcomed new chapters in her life.

Her father, Henry Lee Daniels, preceded Josephine in death.

Josephine is survived by her husband, Bobby of Acworth, Georgia; her daughter, Nevienne Lorayne Tate-Alpough; son-in law, David Alpough; son, Robert Tate, Jr.; and Regina James in Atlanta, Georgia; her granddaughters, Taylor Alpough; and Kennedy Tate; and her brother, John Daniels; and sister in law; AlDonna Daniels; and her aunt, Versie Haley; sister in law Dorothy Mustin; and brother in law, Edward “Bubby” Tate; she also has been blessed with a host of relatives to include, cousins, nieces and nephews, other relatives, friends, and co-workers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to WellStar Tranquility Hospice; St. Monica’s Catholic Church; Thatcher’s Funeral Home, Inc.; family; plus family “by choice”; and friends for being with us as we collectively celebrate Josephine’s home-going.

You are at peace now… Dear God. You have known me and loved me from the first moment of my life. Now you are with me at the time of Josephine's transition. Thank you for always being with me. I know you will receive Josephine’s into your presence and care for her eternally. Give us strength and comfort as we let go of Josephine and she moves into your hands. Let us be assured that one day we will meet again. In faith and love, we commit Josie to you who are eternal.
