Mary was born on May 12, 1948, in Kelly, Georgia, to the late George Ben and Nellie Russell. She was a proud graduate of Jasper County Training School and went on to further her education at Blayton Business College.
Mary built a fulfilling career marked by dedication and excellence. She worked for many years as a Title Clerk at Land America, and prior to that, she served as an Administrative Clerk at the Federal Reserve Bank, where her sharp attention to detail and strong work ethic were deeply valued by her colleagues.
Mary was known for her kind spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love for her family. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, and sister whose presence brought comfort and joy to everyone around her. Her passion for cooking was one of the many ways she expressed her love—whether preparing a special Sunday dinner or a holiday feast, Mary found joy in gathering her family around the table and making everyone feel cherished. She had a true gift for serving others, always willing to lend a helping hand, offer a listening ear, or share words of encouragement.
Mary's life was a reflection of faith, love, and service, and her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched. She will be remembered not only for her strength and grace but also for her laughter, wisdom, and the warmth she brought into every room she entered.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, George Ben and Nellie Russell, and her brothers, Richard Marks(Catherine) and Calvin Russell (Eva).
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughter, Alicia Powell (Wilbur); her beloved grandchildren, Xavier and Zuri Powell; her loving sister, Daisy Russell; and her brothers, Charles Russell (Pamela) and Greg Russell (Patricia). She will also be deeply missed by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives were brightened by her love and kindness.
