Obituary For Mrs. Willie "Cleamer" Dixson Coverson

Mrs. Willie "Cleamer" Coverson was the eldest of twelve children born to the late Ina Mae Dunson Dixson and Henry Willis Dixson on September 26, 1932 in Heard County, Georgia.

Willie Cleamer lived in Atlanta, Georgia for a number of years before moving to Bridgeport, Connecticut. While in Connecticut she was employed with Bridgeport Hospital as a Managing Dietician, but spent most of her life in service as a foster-care parent, and a beloved mother to the community; for which she received numerous awards and accolades. This included an award from the Muslim community, as the"Balilihan" Woman of the Year." She lived in Connecticut until September 2013 until she relocated back to the place she called home, Georgia.

"Mother Coverson" loved GOD, her family and her calling to mother children, studying the word of God, the company of others especially around the holidays. She also loved sewing and was recognized as an acclaimed self-taught seamstress, and a great cook in high demand. In addition, Mother Coverson also enjoyed gardening and shopping with her best friend.

Willie “Cleamer” Dixson-Coverson, is preceded in death by her husband Robert Lee Coverson of sixty-four years of marriage and two brothers: Johnny G. and Harrer C. Dixson.

She leaves a multitude of family and friends to honor and celebrate her beautiful life.

Willie C. Coverson and her husband raised fourteen children, six sons and eight daughters: Robert C. Coverson (Lucero) of Millington, TN; Jimmy C. Coverson of Naugatuck, CT; Joan V. Quarrie (Lenworth) of Raleigh, NC; Delphine R. Clyburn (Michael) of New Haven, CT; Vickie M. Peterson (Dawud); Danita A. Coverson-Jagne (Ousman) and Anita M. Coverson of Bridgeport, CT; Sidney M. Coverson (Mieko) of Honolulu, HI; Bethy Ward, Raheim Coverson, and Bianca Coverson of Bridgeport, CT; Joseph Coverson of Westport, CT; Crystal and Matthew Jones of Bridgeport, CT; nine siblings, five brothers: Henry C. Dixson (Elease) of Atlanta, GA; Sammie E. Dixson (Betty) of Columbus, Ohio; Raymond L. and Terry E. Dixson (Lorene) of Atlanta, GA; Morris W. Dixson (Lindora) of Grand Prairie, TX; four sisters: I. Estelle Bonner (William) of Lanett, AL; Edith D. Hollis (Couties) and Ollie J. Dukes (John) of Atlanta, GA; Wyndra E. Cowan (Cyphris) of Ellenwood, GA; two sisters-in-law: Bernice Dixson of Columbus, GA and Evelyn Dixson of Atlanta, GA; twenty-two grandchildren, Yma Roberson; Tomorra Young (Corey); T-Shaka Coverson (Demonica); Kashon Perrin (George); Tysha Martinez (Leo); Ebony, Joshua, and Trevor Johnson; LaKeya Coverson; Aqueelah and Michael Clyburn; Philip Coverson; Sienna and Tymon Peterson; Francisco Medina (Vivian), Cynthia Eason (Brian); Samantha and Mark Medina (Jana); Samuel, Seraphina, Sabrina, Sade, and Zamira Coverson; thirty-one great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; her dear extended family member Bernice Williams and her family; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends.
