Obituary For Mrs. Yvonne Brockett

In profound sorrow we announce the passing of Mrs. Yvonne Brockett. Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020 11:00 am at Grissom-Clark Eastlake Chapel. Visitation will be Friday September 18, 2020 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm.

Yvonne Mae Brockett (aka Vonnie) passed away peacefully into eternity on September 9, 2020. She was born Jan 18, 1956 at Happy Grove, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica to parents Vivian & Agatha Murray who preceded her in death. She was the last of 4 children (Jean, John, Trevor & Yvonne). Trevor pre-deceased her. She had her early education at Happy Grove Primary School, St. Elizabeth then on to Hampton High School, St. Elizabeth and finally became a trained teacher after attending the Sam Sharpe Teachers College, St. James, graduating about 1981, all in Jamaica. She started teaching at St. James High School in Montego Bay about 1981. About 1986 she married Everard Brockett, the Love of her life. Shortly after, they welcomed their first child, Everard Jr. Yvonne and Everard migrated from Jamaica to the US about 1989 spending a few years in Florida and then moved to Georgia where Krystal was born in 1996. Together they raised 3 children: Damion, Everard Jr. & Krystal. Everard Sr. predeceased her in 2005. Since then, Vonnie had to play the role of father and mother and was influential in making them honorable graduates from high school and university. She first worked as a home health nurse for a number of years then started teaching at Heritage High School in Conyers where she taught special needs children. She was beloved by all her peers and students. Yvonne enjoyed fellowship with her brothers and sisters in Christ. She never met a stranger. She loved everyone unconditionally and was a stellar example of godly love, compassion and faithfulness to her children and all.
