Obituary For Reverend Milton (Abdwele) Fann

Reverend Milton Ahdwele Fann, a native of Atlanta, was born January 26,1954, the second Child of the late Rosel and Miller Fann, to his family and long-time friends, he was affectionately known as “Chip” Milton attended Caroline F. Harper Elementary School and Walter F. George High School in southeast Atlantia. He graduated from Georgia Hight School in 1974. In 1974, Milton Joined the U.S. Military, serving until 1979 and receiving an honorable discharge.

In 1979, Milton joined the Shrine of the Black Madonna of the Pan African Orthodox Christen Church (PAOCC). He was given the name Ahdwele Dakarai , which means, God brought me happiness. At the Church, he met and married his beloved wife of 29 years, Rev. Velma “Maia” Thomas Fann, and to this union was born Olu Dakarai Fann. Olu is following in his father footsteps, remaining active in the church ministries even as he pursues a rising career in entertainment.

Connected to his community, Milton served as chairman of the Board of the Georgia High School Alumni Class of 1972. Under his tenure, the class of ’72 made several donations to the Rosel Fann Recreation Center to award scholarship to the youth enrolled in the after school and summer camp programs. Milton serviced on several boards in the PAOCC, including the National Board. Milton also served National board of Directors, the National Board of Pastors, and the local South Regional Board. Milton also served as chairman of the board of the Shrine of the Black Madonna Cultural center and book Store.

Milton Ahdwele Chip Fann leaves to celebrate his life his beloved church an southeast Atlanta communities; his wife Maia and son Olu; brother Marcus Fann; sister Vivian “Tina” Baker (Jeff); brother Martin “ML” Fann; nephews James Fann(Stacy), Major Fann, Jayson Baker, Kendall Fann, Jeremy Fann, Aiden Fann; great nephews Caleb Fann, Eli Fann, Asher Fann; great nieces Angel Thomas Daniels; sisters-in-Law Eleanor Davis and Judge Deborah Thomas, and a host of god-children, relatives and friend.
