Shannon Renee' King was on July 2, 1979 in South Bend, Indiana to Micheal J. Martin and Deloris Martin. The Martin family moved to Decatur, Georgia in 1983.
Shannon attended school in the Dekalb County School System and graduated from Stone Mountain High School in 1998. She was a member of the Girl's Basketball Team. Playing on the team brought Shannon great joy and pleasure. After graduation, she attended Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia and completed two years.
While attending Georgia Southern University, she met Rashon King and they married on Valentines Day of 2001. Four children were born to this union; Alexis and Arianna (deceased), Malik and Khalif. Shannon moved back to Decatur, Georgia in 2005. She was employed as a bus driver for the Dekalb County School System, a job which she loved because of the children and other bus drivers.
On Sunday, November 9, 2008, Shannon was tragically killed. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Arianna King and beloved brother, Micheal N. Martin, maternal grandfather, Willie Moody and paternal grandparents, Romeo and Sylvester Martin.
Shannon leaves to cherish her memory,daughter, Alexis J. King; sons, Malik A. King and Khalif S. King; mother, Delores Hall; father, Micheal J. Martin; stepfather, Emanual Hall; sisters Ayanna E. (Demetrius) Wright, Statesboro, Georgia and Nnaomi Martin (Stephen Young), Covington, Georgia; half sister, Tamiko Franklin, Chicago, Illinois; maternal grandmother, Mae E. Moody of South Bend, Indiana; sister-in-law, Rasheeda Duncan; nieces and nephews, Jawara, Micheal R., Marquell, Demetrius J., Abreea, Stephanie, Devon Stephen, and Amir; and host of uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends.
