Mr. Stanley Nelson Petty was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ulysses and Ollie Mae Petty on October 18th, 1957, in Athens-Clarke County, Georgia. He was the 10th of 14 siblings.
Stanley attended Cedar Shoals High School in Athens, Georgia. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Armed Forces where he served for eight years. After an honorable discharge, he began a successful career as a Radiology Technologist working for various metro Atlanta hospitals, ending his career at Northside Hospital where he was faithfully employed for 16 years.
Stanley joined the Decatur Seventh-Day Adventist Church in 1996 where he met his wife, Doretha Kelly. Stanley and Doretha were united in Holy Matrimony on September 17th, 2000. God blessed them with a beautiful daughter, Alana Danielle Petty on April 26, 2003.
While a member of the Decatur Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Stanley served on the deacon and usher boards, the Adventist Men and Community Service Auxillaries. His love and devotion to his biological family, as well as his church family was very important. It was displayed thru his kind acts and caring deeds.
On April 16th, 2007, Stanley fell asleep in Jesus. In his sleeping he leaves to mourn, his loving wife, Doretha L. Petty; daughter, Alana Petty; sisters, Mrs. Evelyn (Willie Ed) Favors, of Crawford, GA, Mrs. Linda (William) Minor, of Clarkston, GA, Mrs.Vickey (Eddie) Watkins, of Monroe, GA, Ms. Patricia Petty; brothers, Mr. Ulysses (Donna) Petty, Jr., of Clarkston, GA, Mr. Martin L. Petty of Lawrenceville, GA, Mr. Dwight Petty of Doraville, GA; 6 aunts, 2uncles and a host of nieces and nephews and other family members, whom loved Stanley so very much.
