Mrs. Sylvia Bush Jenkins, the sixth child of the late Pastor Willie C. Bush and Gladys A. Bush, was born in February 1, 1948 in Gadsden, Alabama. During the late afternoon hours of Sunday, March 4, 2012, surrounded by loving family and friends, Sylvia quietly and serenely exchanged this life for eternal peace after a long illness. She was raised in a home full of love, infused with a strong Christian faith, as evident by her kind heart and love of laughter.
Sylvia was united in holy matrimony to William Ernest Jenkins on September 14, 1967. To this union one child was born, Nicki Burnell Jenkins. She was a great wife and mother, who had a special bond with her husband and daughter. They helped to care for her in her final days of illness.
Sylvia, a graduate of Kentucky State University, spent most of her professional life as a Casework Supervisor and Area Director with the Fulton County Department of Family and Children Services. After retiring in 1996, she volunteered assisting the elderly by fulfilling their needs with respect and compassion. She was active in her church and served her community for many years.
