Obituary For Winsome Lyseight

Winsome Lyseight can easily be remebered as a loving and selfless person. People who had the privelege of knowing her often tell stories of your kindness. Winsome was one of 14 children bor to Joseph Barnes and Erceline (Pitter) Barnes. She was given the name Winsome and rightly so because she was such a lovely child. As a young girl, she was hard working and rambunctious. She loved to roam her father's land at Greenpond in Mancheseter. On a beautiful day you could easily find her at the top of a tree eating oranges.

As a young lady, she attended school with her siblings. Her family regularly attended the Campbell's Castle S.D.A. Church her father founded and helped to build. She would eventually leave Mandeville and move to Spanish Town where she worked at a store with her best friend, Beverly. There she met the love of her life and soon to be husband, Valentine Oxford Lyseight. Beverly married his brother, homer and they became sisters-in-law.

Winsome was the loving wife of Valentine oxford Lyseight for 34 years. They were married August 4, 1948. Together they raised seven children, Winston, Carol(Lily), Yvonne (Cherry), Lawrence (Larry), Louis (Paul), and finally Garth and Donna. Winsome became an incredible homemaker and the Lyseights were active members of their church. winsome was in charge of the Dorcas Society at Fairfield S.D.A. Church. She also worked as a pianist for the Fairfield and McCooks S.D.A. Church. Charity was always a priority for her and she was known to always large amounts of food for the potential guest or person in need.

The Lyseights moved to Queens, New York in 1978. Winsome spent alot of time helping out with her grandchildren and in the church. Unfortunately, tragedy would strike in 1982 with the ultimately death of her husband. She later became a nursing Aid and purchased a home in Queens. By 1995, she went to live with her daughter , Yvonne in Huntsville, Alabama. They would later relocate to Lilburn, Georgia. Winsome had a stroke on 2007 and her health began slowly deteriorating thereafter. She passed at Eastside Emory Hospital the morning of March 31, 2008.

In addition to her seven children, those who cherish the memory of Winsome Lyseight include twenty-two grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
