Alver E. Dillard, age 71, of Miles Rd., Collinsville, VA, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026, at SOVAH Health-Martinsville.
Born on February 27, 1955, in Martinsville, VA, he was the beloved son of the late Eugene Dillard and Laura Wade Dillard.
In addition to his parents, Alver was preceded in death by one brother, Andrew L. Dillard and stepbrother, Nathaniel Manns.
Alver was a proud graduate of George Washington Carver High School class of 1971. Following his education, he dedicated many years of hard work to Roadside Service, from which he eventually retired. He was a United States Navy Veteran.
A man of faith, Alver was a dedicated member of Mt. Pisgah Joyland Temple, where he enjoyed fellowship and community. He will be remembered fondly by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Alver leaves to cherish his beloved memory his wife, Evette Dillard of the home; one son, Almonte Dillard of Collinsville, VA; two daughters, Bridgett Carter and her husband, Jay of Martinsville, VA and Brittany Dillard of Collinsville, VA; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Cleon E. Dillard and his wife, Yolanda, and David D. Dillard both of Martinsville, VA, and Richard W. Dillard of Raleigh, NC; four sisters, Janice J. Pace, Stephanie Dillard and Sharon L. Hairston all of Martinsville, VA, and Abigail T. Reynolds and her husband, Willie of Patrick Springs, VA; one sister-in-law, Mary Harper; two brothers-in-law, James Kilpatrick and Frankie Kilpatrick and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. with the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA with Pastor Mark Dillard, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Rock Run Primitive Baptist Cemetery, Fieldale, VA.
A public viewing will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. The family will receive friends at the residence, 119 Miles Rd., Collinsville, VA. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
