Alvin was quite the storyteller. We will remember his stories, the lessons he taught us, and the guidance that he gave. He had a kind and giving spirit and always found time and space for his family. He was a strong provider, a loving and a caring husband and father and we will miss him.

Carolyn, I forgot to put my name on the condolence in remembering Alvin from PHCC. Marguerite W. Wilson and Tim Witcher
Carolyn and Family, Sharing in the transition of your beloved, Alvin. Sympathy, Blessings and Love. Cherish the memories and share them. Alvin would "crack me up" talking about his students whenever I would stop by his class at PHCC when I was a student there. You can imagine what he said when I told him they were going to fire him.
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Penn. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
Carolyn, Alverna and the entire Penn Family, May the peace of the Lord be with you today and in the days that follow. Ann & James Morgan

He was my Earth Science teacher at Fieldale-Collinsville High School and my favorite science teacher.
I taught Alvin at Carver he was very smart and likeable. i have already heard from some of his classmates who live in the DC area. They all nothing but positive things to say about him. May he rest in peace.
