Obituary For Anita Preston

Anita M. Preston, 69, of Randolph St., Martinsville, VA departed this life on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Duke University Hospital. She was born in Henry County, VA on August 27, 1956, to the late Atlas Smith and Marie Moore Smith.

In addition to her parents, Anita was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Smith.

Anita attended Mountain View Missionary Baptist Church.

Anita leaves behind to cherish her memories, one daughter, Antionette Smith of Martinsville, VA; two sons, Melvin Carlos Smith of Martinsville, VA; and Demarcus Kellam of Eden, NC; ten grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and two sisters, Carolyn Brim of Eden, NC; and Ethelen Smith of Raleigh, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Thursday, January 22,2026, at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 Noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mayo Missionary Baptist Church.

A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 21,2026, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will receive friends at 1703 East Church St. Ext.#8, Martinsville, VA.
